Black Friday Sales 2010 - Best Deals from Target, Macys, and more...

Shopping_is_fun

The answer is yes. Black Friday deals are worth it. Buy one get one free, $50 gift credits, and giveaways are just the start of what you will find at this year’s Black Friday sales. Retailers are still battling the recession and are offering all kinds of incentives for shoppers (including offering deals earlier than Friday).  Don't just think about your Holiday shopping on the day after Thanksiving. Stock up for birthday party gifts and other present giving opportunities throughout the year.

Here is the low down on the hows and wheres of getting the most out of Black Friday sales in New York City and beyond:

Things to know:
Just because you don’t get there are 3 am and trample on people does not mean that you will not get a deal. Retailers run their deals all weekend and you can usually score early Sunday morning instead of camping out at Macy’s door.
”Hard goods such as electronics and toys are good bets on Black Friday,” says Vanessa Reyes owner of Stella Gialla at Atlas Park. Try to focus your efforts on major retailers and electronics stores. Small boutiques are less likely to have blow out sales.
Try to shop alone. The fewer people you bring along with you the better time you will have navigating the crowds and lines.
Toys R Us has some pop up shops which may be less crowded since not everyone knows about them. Give them a try rather than the regular stores.
Here are some of the best deals we think are worth checking out:
Toys R Us will open their stores at 10pm on Thursday for Black Friday so as soon as you recover from Thanksgiving dinner you can head to the stores. This is probably Black Fridays biggest sale with unadvertised additional sales and tons of giveaways. Some highlights include a $50 Gift Card with the purchase of any iPod touch and 50% off many toys in the store.
Macy’s is probably the best place to go on Black Friday. They are offering 20% off almost everything in the store with additional savings throughout. This year they open at 4am.
Target also opens at 4am on Black Friday. They are offering a $50 Target gift card with purchase of an 8GB iPod touch, a $49 7" portable DVD player, DVDs for $1.99-$7.99 (most expensive is Blu-Ray), and really amazing toy deals. The website 2010 Black Friday Ads has leaked their ad page, where you can check out everything they are offering (hint: you will not be disappointed).
Best Buy: Open at 5am Friday. Best Buy is known for having large crowds just waiting outside, so please be careful. Nooks for $99.99, Xbox 360 with 3 game bundle for $199.99, really good deals on TVs, $125 Best Buy gift card with purchase of a MacBook Pro, cell phones for  $1 with a 2-year contract, and more.
As if Walmart weren't already cheap enough, they are offering sales from 5am-11am on Black Friday. Highlights include $29 photo frame, digital cameras for $59-$189, $89 for Nintendo DS Lite, 60+ video games priced at $7, various toys from $4-$25, and $8 jeans. The 2010 Black Friday Ads website will have all the online Walmart deals posted on November 22.
Old Navy opens Friday at midnight, but they are having deals all weekend. On Saturday they have gloves for $1.50, and clothing deals for the whole family like $10 turtle necks, $5 sweaters, and $10 performance fleece.
Gymboree Black Friday information has not yet leaked.

The Queens Center Mall in Elmhurst will open at midnight on Black Friday. The first 300 people to line up at the mall's main entrance (Queens Boulevard) will receive a $10 Gfit Card and special store offers. Plus you will have a chance to unwrap holiday prizes. For a full list of hours and retailer deals, and info on Santa visit www.shopqueenscenter.com.

The most important tip we can offer about Black Friday is to be safe. Watch your kids and watch yourself, it can get crazy out there.

Also check Amazon's Black Friday Deals with new deals all week long, and check for online deals at these retailers as well, if you want to avoid the lines altogether.

Kim Kardashian: Look For Less

Kim Kardashian Look for Less

Kim Kardashian loves her form fitting mini dresses so much they’ve become her signature uniform, and no one is more surprised than we are that we’re not sick of them yet. This time around the reality star added a little sparkle to the little black dress by going for a sequin style.  sequindress is a cute and chic choice especially for upcoming holiday parties. As with any other LBDyou can play with color and accessories. Kim opted to keep the look simple by choosing black platformed peep toe pumps and silver accessories, and since the dress looks hot on its own, it’s just right that she kept everything else simple.

A Little Trick to Knowing When Your Nail Polish is 100 Percent Dry

1028-nail-polish-dry-trick_bd.jpg

You know you've done it: Thought your nail polish was dry, so you start using your fingers to go about life as normal. And then you look down and notice that you've managed to smudge a few of 'em. Annoying. Well, here's the little trick that'll help you figure out exactly when they're 100 percent, totally, completely, no-smudges-are-happening-here dry...

When you think they're about done, very gently touch your pinky nails together. If you can feel the polish "grab" slightly, it's not quite dry yet and you need to give it a few more minutes.

Of course, you want to wait until you truly think your nails might be done to try this--otherwise it'll make a big mark in your polish. but if it's at least 80 percent dry, it won't make a dent.

Have you guys ever tried this? I do it all the time! (And if not, do you have a way to test the dryness of your polish? If so, spill.)

Oh, and hey, here's a nice little guide to making sure your manicure looks professional in case you've now got home polishin' on the brain.

Six Great Tops Under $50

Feminine Tops

The Lowdown: One of our favorite things for fall is softening the corporate (or biker, or military) edge with some feminine detailing. Yes, we are aware that this is nothing truly new, but this fall “new” is a conveniently relative term (Kathryn’s already called out the powers that be on that one — read her thoughts on “new” fall trends here). If it works, quite frankly, we’re gonna go with it … and our friends atModcloth manage to make it easy enough, with truly fab/mod pieces that are edgy, feminine and chic. Nice. Our picks? Stand-out tops that will give any dress pants/skirt/denim, etc. an update that is as close to “new” as we can find right now.

Shop: ModCloth

Our Picks:

Feminine Tops

1. Blink of an Ivory Top, $49.99
2. Journal Writing Top, $42.99
3. Forest of Them All Top, $44.99

Meet the "Sexiest Shoe of the Year" — Do You Agree?

Yesterday, Saks Fifth Avenue and Footwear News teamed up to honor stiletto savants, likeJimmy Choo and Christian Louboutin, with a celebration to crown the sexiest shoes of the year. As you can imagine, the competition was pretty fierce — between Brian Atwood, Christian Louboutin, Jimmy ChooManolo, and Giuseppe Zanotti creations, it seems there's no shortage of sexy pumps. But, since there had to be a winner, Christian Louboutin's Maralena crystal-covered mesh peep-toe pumps took home the top prize, earning the title of the "Sexiest Shoe of the Year." Now, it's your turn to weigh in — do you agree, or is there a sexier style out there that gets your vote?
