While browsing through all the show photos from New York Fashion Week S/S 2011 it was hard for me not to notice all of the neutrals! Many of the collections started out with a handful of completely neutral outfits. Some designers opted for a small splash of color (like the orange shoes and matching orange lipstick in J. Mendel) while other designers somehow managed to turn even their colors into neutrals (like the muted blue and yellow hues from Doo.Ri)

So of course I started thinking what jewelry would I wear with outfits like these? Because of the neutral color tones, all of these looks have an air of minimalism...do I follow suit and wear a simple hoop or stud? Or does the lack of deep, saturated color allow me to go over the top and wear a bold chunky necklace and stacks of colorful bangles? What would I do personally? Go bold! Here are some of my top picks:

The first necklace is a large bronze flower shaped pendant decked out in purple, olive, and blue crystals strung on a chunky double stranded chain. I LOVE THIS! It is actually a piece in my personal collection and it is definitely a statement maker. The golden earrings are also some of my favorites. The large bead is hand blown Venetian glass with gold leaf swirled inside. These earrings are bold but delicate at the same time, which I think goes perfectly with the subtle boldness of some of this season's neutral ensembles. Third is a long copper necklace with matte carnelian stones. I love the color and this goes perfectly with one of the other trends that I kept seeing on the runway: orange hues! Nothing goes better with neutral and often boring khaki than warm tones like reds, oranges, bronzes, and golds. Finally, a pair of black chandelier earrings will go with ANYTHING. But mainly they will go so well with all the white you are seeing on the runway! I promise you will be seeing a LOT of black and white in future magazines, so a pair of these earrings with a simple white outfit is sure to be a great statement maker.
